Game 3 Preview - Wigan Athletic vs Manchester United (Aug 22, 2009)

Wigan Athletic host Manchester United in their third game of the season. The Latics enjoyed a great start as they beat Aston Villa 2-0 on the opening day of the season. However, their joy was short lived as they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves. Man United need to bounce back from their shock defeat at Burnley earlier this week. I expect Wigan to improve from their performance against Wolves, but I think that United will be too strong for the Latics. History strongly favors United, who have won each of the last 8 Premier League games between the two Lancashire sides. Vidic returns after missing the first two games of the season, which will only help United. Berbatov is expected to partner Rooney, with Owen having failed to impress against Burnley. I think that this game will end 2-0 to United.
