Man United open their Premier League season hosting Birmingham City who have not beaten the Mancunians for over 30 years. However, United face defensive problems with injuries to Nemanja Vidic, Rafael, and Van der Sar and Johnny Evans being doubtful. However, Wes Brown is fit again and is expected to start. It will be interesting to see who Sir Alex starts with in midfield. Birmingham City, on the other hand, also have a couple of defensive worries of their own.
United have drawn both the opening games of last season and the season before that so they will definitely be looking to change that tread. I expect City to get one past the United defenders, but also expect United's attackers to open their accounts freely. I'm going for a 3-1 home win.
