Week 38 Predictions

Last week, I got 7 results right and 2 perfect scores. This week,

Chelsea 2-1 Everton
Liverpool 2-0 QPR
Man City 2-0 Norwich
Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal
Southampton 2-1 Stoke
Swansea 2-2 Fulham
Tottenham 2-0 Sunderland
West Ham 2-0 Reading
Wigan 1-1 Aston Villa

West Brom 0-2 Man Utd

West Brom have had a great season, largely attributed in part by the fantastic start they had to the season when they were chasing a Champions League spot. While things have gone downhill from there, finishing in 8th place is still an achievement.

This game will be Sir Alex Ferguson's 1500th and final game in charge of Manchester United. It will be an emotional day for him and the players, so I am pretty sure they will put up a good show to send off the manager on a high.

I expect an away win.

Week 37 Predictions

Last week, I got 3 results right but no perfect score. This week,

Aston Villa 1-2 Chelsea
Stoke 1-1 Tottenham
Everton 1-0 West Ham
Fulham 1-2 Liverpool
Norwich 2-1 West Brom
QPR 1-0 Newcastle
Sunderland 2-1 Southampton
Arsenal 2-0 Wigan
Reading 0-2 Man City

Man Utd 2-0 Swansea

Manchester United were rocked this week with news that Sir Alex Ferguson is retiring at the end of the season . Only a few days prior, Fergie had stated his intention to stay, so this was a shocking development in Manchester. Finally, after more than 26 years at the helm, this will be the United legend's last game at Old Trafford.

Swansea currently lie 9th in the table, but are only two points behind 8th placed West Brom. However, they have a terrible away record having just won one of their last six games. This is surely going to be a tough fixture for the Swans, as the Red Devils will want to give Sir Alex a good final home performance.

I expect a 2-0 victory for United.

Week 36 Predictions

Last week, I got 5 results right and 1 perfect score. This week,

Fulham 2-0 Reading
Norwich 1-0 Aston Villa
Swansea 1-2 Man City
Tottenham 2-0 Southampton
West Brom 2-0 Wigan
West Ham 2-1 Newcastle
QPR 0-2 Arsenal
Liverpool 2-2 Everton
Sunderland 2-0 Stoke

Man Utd 2-1 Chelsea

With the league title all wrapped up, Man United can afford to rest on their laurels. However, I still feel that they will take every game seriously to get a personal points tally record. A win here would match their record of most wins in a Premier League season with 28.

Chelsea are still not assured of a Champions League place as they battle it out with two other London clubs, Arsenal and Spurs. Even though they're the form team at the moment behind Arsenal, their away form has been very poor with only one win in six.

I expect a home win.

Week 35 Predictions

Last week, I got 3 results right and 1 perfect score. This week,

Man City 2-0 West Ham
Everton 2-1 Fulham
Southampton 1-0 West Brom
Stoke 2-0 Norwich
Wigan 1-2 Tottenham
Newcastle 1-1 Liverpool
Reading 2-2 QPR
Chelsea 2-0 Swansea
Aston Villa 1-1 Sunderland

Arsenal 1-2 Man Utd

Arsenal are the form team in the Premier League at the moment, with five wins and a draw in their last six games. The club currently lie in 3rd place, two points above 5th placed Spurs, albeit having played an extra game. As a result, the Champions League spots are still up for grabs.

Manchester United are champions for the 20th time in their history. As such, they will be given a guard of honour at the Emirates. This will be former Arsenal captain Robin van Persie's first return to the stadium where he made his mark in English soccer, which should make for an interesting spectacle. Luis Suarez's ban means that the Dutch striker will indeed win the Golden Boot.

I expect van Perise to grab the headlines and ensure a United victory.

Week 34 Predictions

Last week, I got 3 results right and 1 perfect score. This week,

Fulham 0-2 Arsenal
Norwich 1-1 Reading
QPR 1-1 Stoke
Sunderland 2-2 Everton
Swansea 2-1 Southampton
West Brom 2-1 Newcastle
West Ham 1-0 Wigan
Tottenham 1-1 Man City
Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea

Man Utd 3-0 Aston Villa

Manchester United could wrap up the Premier League title this weekend with victory over Aston Villa (if City lose at Spurs). However, I do expect City to delay the inevitable by one week. This is United's first home game since the defeat by Man City two weeks ago and the Red Devils will make sure they put in a good performance.

Villa have won their last two away games, however both were against relegation threatened sides in Reading and Stoke. This is a whole new ball game and could push them into the relegation zone if Wigan can pull off an unlikely win at West Ham.

I predict a comfortable home win.

Week 33 Predictions

Last week, I got 2 results right and 1 perfect score. This week,

Arsenal 2-0 Norwich
Aston Villa 2-1 Fulham
Everton 2-0 QPR
Reading 1-0 Liverpool
Southampton 2-1 West Ham
Newcastle 2-1 Sunderland

Stoke 1-2 Man Utd

Stoke City sit 3 points above the relegation zone but could soon see themselves in the bottom three, based on their form. The Potters have picked up just one point in their last six games. To make matters worse, their home form is the worst in the league, with just one win in six attempts.

Manchester United lost only their fourth game of the season last week, a defeat that ended their 12 game winning streak at home. That loss did little to dent their title ambitions though, with the club still 12 points ahead of Manchester City.

I expected United to return to winning ways.

Week 32 Predictions

Last week, I got 7 results right but no perfect score. This week,

Reading 1-1 Southampton
Norwich 1-1 Swansea
Stoke 2-1 Aston Villa
West Brom 1-2 Arsenal
Liverpool 2-0 West Ham
Tottenham 1-2 Everton
Chelsea 2-0 Sunderland
Newcastle 2-2 Fulham
QPR 2-1 Wigan

Man Utd 2-1 Man City

It's derby day, but this game is not significant by any means. Manchester United will be hoping to complete the double over City, having won 3-2 earlier in the season at the Etihad Stadium. The Red Devils are unbeaten in 18 games and have won a staggering 12 consecutive games at home. If this isn't championship form, then I don't know what it is.

Man City have had a very disappointing season. They sit 15 points behind the leaders and are still not assured of a second place finish in the league, with Spurs and Chelsea breathing down their necks. This could be another evening to forget for them.

I expect the champions elect to win and come within a game of sealing the Premier League title.

Week 31 Predictions

Last week, I got 4 results right and 1 perfect score. This week,

Arsenal 2-1 Reading
Man City 2-0 Newcastle
Southampton 1-1 Chelsea
Swansea 1-1 Tottenham
West Ham 2-1 West Brom
Wigan 2-1 Norwich
Everton 2-0 Stoke
Aston Villa 0-1 Liverpool
Fulham 1-1 QPR

Sunderland 0-2 Man Utd

Sunderland are a team in disarray. They are ranked lowest in the 'form' table, having picked up only 2 points in their last 6 games. As a result, they are not safe by any means and need to pick up points soon in order to avoid getting engulfed in the relegation scrap.

Man United could field a weakened side with one eye on Monday's FA Cup quarterfinal replay against Chelsea. While this may give the Black Cats some hope, United still have enough quality to see them through and record a 7th consecutive league win.

I expect United to win comfortably.

Saturday, March 16, 2013

Week 30 Predictions

Last week, I got 3 results right but no perfect score. This week,

Everton 1-2 Man City
Aston Villa 1-2 QPR
Southampton 1-3 Liverpool
Stoke 1-1 West Brom
Swansea 1-2 Arsenal
Sunderland 2-1 Norwich
Tottenham 2-0 Fulham
Chelsea 2-0 West Ham
Wigan 1-1 Newcastle

Man Utd 3-0 Reading

Manchester United threw away a two goal lead against Chelsea in the FA Cup last weekend, a performance that was not up to the mark at all. But this is a different competition and United know how to bounce back from such a performance.

Reading come into this game on the back of four consecutive defeats. With a caretaker manager in charge, this game will not be easy. I expect the Royals to move to the bottom of the table after this week's games.

I expect United to beat Reading comfortably.

Saturday, March 2, 2013

Week 28 Predictions

Last week, I got 6 results right and 1 perfect score. This week,

Chelsea 2-1 West Brom
Everton 2-0 Reading
Southampton 1-1 QPR
Stoke 2-1 West Ham
Sunderland 2-1 Fulham
Swansea 1-1 Newcastle
Wigan 2-1 Liverpool
Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal
Aston Villa 0-3 Man City

Man Utd 3-0 Norwich

Man United legend Ryan Giggs is expected to play his 1000th senior career game this week. It's a fantastic achievement and coincides with the news that the veteran will prolong his United career by another year. United have a great change of recording their 11th consecutive home win.

Norwich got a fantastic result against Everton last week; a win that pretty much ensures their safety this season. The Canaries have an awful away record, having won just one game all season. Even with United expected to rest a few key players, such as van Persie, with one eye on the midweek clash against Real Madrid, it will be difficult for City to get something from this game.

I expect an easy home win for the Red Devils.

Week 27 Predictions

Last week, I got 3 results right but no perfect scores This week,

Fulham 2-1 Stoke
Arsenal 2-0 Aston Villa
Norwich 0-2 Everton
Reading 2-1 Wigan
West Brom 2-0 Sunderland
Man City 1-1 Chelsea
Newcastle 2-1 Southampton
West Ham 1-2 Tottenham

QPR 0-2 Man Utd

This week, two important outcomes can be decided. QPR lie 7 points adrift of safety and, if my predictions are accurate, could find themselves nine points deep in the relegation zone. Even though their form has been good, losing only once in six outings, I believe this defeat could be the final nail in the coffin for them.

On the reverse side of things, Man United could settle things at the top. A win would move them 15 points clear of second placed Man City and, with the Citizens expected to drop points against Chelsea this week, the title race could surely be over.

I expect United to all but seal their 20th league title this week.

Saturday, February 9, 2013

Week 26 Predictions

Last week, I got 4 results right and 2 perfect scores This week,

Tottenham 2-2 Newcastle
Chelsea 2-0 Wigan
Norwich 1-0 Fulham
Stoke 2-0 Reading
Sunderland 1-2 Arsenal
Swansea 1-1 QPR
Southampton 1-3 Man City
Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham
Liverpool 2-0 West Brom

Man Utd 1-1 Everton

Man United scraped through their last game, winning 1-0 against Fulham. That victory, coupled with Man City's draw against Liverpool, means that the Red Devils are now 9 points clear at the top of the table. However, the club have a game against Real Madrid next week which could hurt them in this game.

Everton have had yet another outstanding season. With the resources he's had, David Moyes is probably the best manager in the league by a mile. Everton beat United in the first game of this season, and last season scored twice in three minutes to draw the game at Old Trafford and dealt a heavy blow to United's title bid. This could be another close game.

I expect both teams to share the spoils.

Week 25 Predictions

Last week, I got 6 results right and 1 perfect scores This week,

QPR 2-1 Norwich
Arsenal 2-0 Stoke
Everton 2-0 Aston Villa
Newcastle 1-1 Chelsea
Reading 2-1 Sunderland
West Ham 2-2 Swansea
Wigan 2-1 Southampton
West Brom 1-1 Tottenham
Man City 2-2 Liverpool

Fulham 0-2 Man Utd

Fulham had a great result last week, beating West Ham 3-1. The Cottagers spent a relatively busy transfer window which could see them finish the season in the top half of the table. Ex-Man United star Dimitar Berbatov misses the game through injury.

Man United were awful in their game against Southampton and were lucky to get all three points. They really need to improve this week if they are to get back to back wins. Rio Ferdinand should start after being benched for the last game.

I expect an away win.

Week 24 Predictions

Last week, I got 5 results right and 2 perfect scores. This week,

Aston Villa 1-1 Newcastle
QPR 0-2 Man City
Stoke 2-0 Wigan
Sunderland 1-1 Swansea
Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool
Everton 1-0 West Brom
Norwich 1-1 Tottenham
Fulham 2-1 West Ham
Reading 1-1 Chelsea

Man Utd 3-0 Southampton

Manchester United dropped two points against Spurs last week when they conceded a late equalizer. Other than that, their defense seems to have greatly improved of late. At home, they have won 8 straight games now.

The Saints sacked manager Nigel Adkins last week, a decision that shocked many, given his contribution to the club. It may take some time for the new manager to settle in and get his ideas across. This may hurt them in the short-term.

I expect an easy United win.

Saturday, January 19, 2013

Week 23 Predictions

Last week, I got 1 result right but no perfect scores. This week,

Liverpool 2-0 Norwich
Man City 2-0 Fulham
Newcastle 2-1 Reading
Swansea 1-0 Stoke
West Ham 1-1 QPR
Wigan 0-0 Sunderland
West Brom 2-1 Aston Villa
Chelsea 1-1 Arsenal
Southampton 1-2 Everton
Arsenal 2-0 West Ham

Tottenham 1-2 Man Utd

Spurs are second only to the two Manchester cubs, when it comes to form, having won four of their last six games.  The team has lost Emmanuel Adebayor to the African Cup of Nations, but will be hoping Gareth Bale can provide them with some inspiration.

Man United beat rivals Liverpool last wee, which was a great result for them.  Even though they have struggled at times on the road, their overall form has been generally good.

It will be a close game, but United should have enough to win.

Week 22 Predictions

Last week, I got 4 results right but no perfect scores. This week,

QPR 1-2 Tottenham
Aston Villa 1-1 Southampton
Everton 2-0 Swansea
Fulham 2-1 Wigan
Norwich 1-0 Newcastle
Reading 1-2 West Brom
Stoke 1-1 Chelsea
Sunderland 2-2 West Ham
Arsenal 1-1 Man City
Man Utd 3-1 Liverpool

It's the biggest game in English soccer and United will be pretty confident going into this game. With five wins out of six, things cannot go any better for the Red Devils. Robin van Persie is scoring goals for fun, so he should play an important role in this game.

Liverpool are 8th in the league, and have a terrible away form, picking up only two wins in six games. As always, Luis Suarez will be the centre of attention so it will be interesting to see what he can do.

United won the reverse fixture earlier in the season and I expect a similar outcome this week.

Monday, December 31, 2012

Week 21 Predictions

Last week, I got 2 results right but no perfect scores. This week,

West Brom 2-1 Fulham
Swansea 2-0 Aston Villa
Man City 3-1 Stoke
West Ham 1-1 Norwich
Tottenham 3-0 Reading
Southampton 1-2 Arsenal
Chelsea 4-0 QPR
Liverpool 2-0 Sunderland
Newcastle 2-2 Everton

Wigan 0-2 Man Utd

Halfway through the season and Wigan are only a point above the relegation zone. The Latics have only one once in their last 6 games, that victory ending a run of three successive defeats. It was a timely win for them, especially because they're getting their injured players back in the team.

Manchester United sit 7 points clear at the top of the table. While this lead is certainly not unassailable, it is a fantastic situation for them to be in. United's last game against West Brom happened to be their first clean sheet in 6 games and a lot of that is down to the return of captain Nemanja Vidic.

I expect United to prevail.

Week 18 Predictions

Last week, I got 3 results right and one perfect score. This week,

Wigan 0-2 Arsenal
Man City 3-0 Reading
Newcastle 2-1 QPR
Southampton 1-1 Sunderland
Tottenham 2-1 Stoke
West Brom 1-0 Norwich
West Ham 2-1 Everton
Liverpool 2-2 Fulham
Chelsea 2-0 Aston Villa

Swansea 1-1 Man Utd

Swansea sit in the top half of the league table, but only just. They had a great start to the season, but are now starting to throw away crucial points. They have now lost two consecutive games in heartbreaking fashion.

Man United are still 6 points clear at the top, but have struggled to close off games due to their defence. This could hurt them this week if they concede early.

I expect a draw.

Friday, December 14, 2012

Week 17 Predictions

Last week, I got 2 results right and one perfect score. This week,

Newcastle 1-1 Man City
Liverpool 2-0 Aston Villa
Norwich 2-1 Wigan
QPR 0-0 Fulham
Stoke 1-2 Everton
Tottenham 2-0 Swansea
West Brom 2-1 West Ham
Reading 1-1 Arsenal

Man Utd 3-0 Sunderland

Man United got a great result last weekend when they beat champions Man City in the first derby of the season. The win puts them six points clear at the top of the table. Nemanja Vidic could finally make his long awaited return to the first team and United can further increase their lead at the top.

Sunderland beat Reading in their own six-pointer in midweek. That game put an end to their four match winless streak. However, they still need to do a lot of work before they can start to break away from the relegation-threatened sides.

I expect goals from the home side.

Saturday, December 8, 2012

Week 16 Predictions

Last week, I got 7 results right and two perfect scores. This week,

Arsenal 1-1 West Brom
Aston Villa 1-2 Stoke
Southampton 1-1 Reading
Sunderland 1-1 Chelsea
Swansea 2-1 Norwich
Wigan 2-1 QPR
Everton 2-2 Tottenham
West Ham 2-1 Liverpool
Fulham 2-1 Newcastle
Sunderland 2-1 Reading

Man City 2-2 Man Utd

It's the biggest game of the season so far, with both Manchester clubs occupying the top two spots in the league table. Man City are unbeaten in the league, but have only won half their last 6 games. On the plus side, they have the best defense in the league. A win here would place them above Man United in the table.

Man United's form has been generally good over the last several weeks. Even though they have a leaky defense, they balance it out by scoring goals for fun. I think that they will be looking for a point here to maintain their three point advantage over the champions.

This could be the first draw for Man United this season.
