Game 6 Preview - Manchester United vs Manchester City (Sep 20, 2009)

Having made their best ever start to a Premier League season, Man City make the short trip to Old Trafford in full confidence. However, City are suffering from a striker crisis, with Adebayor serving a three match suspension, Santa Cruz, Benjani and Robinho all injured, and Tevez being a doubt. While Tevez is confident that he will play some part in the match, Bellamy is the only recognized striker in the team. Should he take the field, Tevez expects to receive a warm reception from the United faithful – something that I am not too sure of.

Man United do not have any major concerns ahead of this match, apart from the doubtful Ferdinand, with Van der Sar still recovering from his broken thumb.

United have lost both players (Ronaldo and Tevez) who scored in the corresponding fixture last season, so the goals will need to come from elsewhere. Even though Man City are stronger defensively, with the addition of Toure and Lescott, I think Rooney and Berbatov have enough quality to penetrate them. How City are going to score without their strikers, I simply don’t know. I am going for a 2-0 United win.
