Current leaders Chelsea host Champions Manchester United in this mouth-watering top of the table clash on Sunday. Some have billed this game as a title decider; I, however, disagree. It’s too early in the season to say that.
Apart from the 2-2 draw in Madrid against Athletico, Chelsea come into this game on the back of some great results – winning 4 games on the trot, scoring 17 goals and conceding none in the process. Manchester United, on the other hand, have won just 4 of their last 7 games. Their last outing resulted in a 3-3 draw against CSKA Moscow, albeit with a great comeback.
Chelsea only have Jose Bosingwa missing from their squad, while United have a couple of injury concerns to deal with. Rio Ferdinand is definitely out, while Gary Neville is suspended for this fixture. On the plus side, Nemanja Vidic should return to the side.
I think that United’s form in the league, or lack thereof, will surely count against them. Their makeshift defense will find it hard to cope with Didier Drogba’s physical presence and goal scoring form. I expect Chelsea to maintain their 100% home league record this season and register a 2-1 win over the Red Devils.
