2010 FIFA World Cup Group Stage Game 2 - Algeria v England (June 18, 2010)

England opened their World Cup campaign in disappointing fashion, only drawing with USA after having taken the lead in just the 4th minute. They now play Algeria, a side who lost their opening game against Slovenia. A win is a must for both sides if they wish to advance to the last 16 of the World Cup. It is the first game for these sides against each other. The good thing for England is that they have never lost to an African side before.

David James is expected to start in goal after Robert Green's blunder in England's game against the US. Center Back Ledley King is missing with injury and he could be replaced by Jamie Carragher. In midfield, Gareth Barry will partner Frank Lampard, with Steven Gerrard moved to the left flank. Once again, Wayne Rooney is expected to be partnered upfront with Emile Heskey.

Algeria have goalkeeping problems of their own. Goalkeeper Faouzi Chaouchi was expected to be given the starting berth again, even after his horrendous error against Slovenia, but might now miss out through injury. Striker Abdelkader Ghezzal is missing through suspension, after he was sent off in the last game, so Rafik Djebbour should operate on his own upfront.

I am going for a 2-0 England win that would dump the African side out of the World Cup.
