2010 FIFA World Cup Group Stage Game 3 - England v Slovenia (June 23, 2010)

England have had a very dismal World Cup so far, and will exit the tournament should they fail to win their last Group game. Slovenia, on the other hand, are top of the Group and a draw here will see them progress to the last 16. The two sides have met just once before, when England won 2-1 last year.

England are expected to ring in several changes for this game. Jamie Carragher is suspended after he picked up his second booking of the tournamet, so he will be replaced by Mathew Upson. Winger Aaron Lennon could make way for James Milner in the starting XI. Emile Heskey's place is in doubt after he failed to impress in the first two games, and he is expected to be replaced by Jermain Defoe.

Slovenia are without defender Marko Suler, after he injured his ribs against the US. He should be replaced by Matej Mavric. Nejc Pecnik has been ruled out of the tournament after he broke his ankle in the same game. The rest of the team is expected to be the same, with the Slovenians hoping to stifle England and secure a draw to ensure they reach the Knockout Stage.

This is a do or die situation for England. I still think they have the ability to win here. Should Wayne Rooney play to his best, England should qualify from the group. A 1-0 win might be on the cards here.
