Game 10 Preview - Liverpool vs Manchester United (Oct 25, 2009)

Liverpool host Champions Man United on Sunday, knowing that a defeat would all but end their chances of securing their first league title in 20 years. Having lost their last 4 games in all competitions, confidence is low and odds are against the Liverpool side. United, on the other hand, are piling up wins and another 3 points here would move them top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool have a couple of injury concerns to deal with. Captain Steven Gerrard is definitely out; however, Fernando Torres is expected to be fit for the clash. Wayne Rooney, who has missed United’s last two games through a calf injury, is still doubtful. Should Rooney not make the team, Michael Owen could start for United.

The Champions will be looking for revenge after Liverpool did the double over them last season. With Liverpool’s dismal run of form, I am going for a 2-1 United win. Former Liverpool favourite Owen is expected to receive a mixed reception from the Anfield faithful. However, should Owen score the winner, he is likely to become Anfield’s favourite villain.
